This game is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which are part of the European Accessibility requirements effective from 2025.

What You'll Learn

Accessible Game Jam drops you on a realistic landing page seeded with real-world accessibility mistakes. For each one you find, you answer a short multiple-choice question explaining how to fix it and why it matters, then earn 10 points. Find and correctly fix all 5 issues to reach the maximum score of 50 points.

WCAG 2.1 AA issue categories covered

  • Missing alt text Images without a text alternative for screen reader users (WCAG 1.1.1).
  • Low color contrast Text that fails the 4.5:1 minimum contrast ratio (WCAG 1.4.3).
  • Unlabeled form fields Inputs with no visible label describing their purpose (WCAG 1.3.1 / 4.1.2).
  • Vague link text Links like "click here" with no meaning out of context (WCAG 2.4.4).
  • Keyboard-inaccessible controls Custom buttons that can't be focused or operated by keyboard (WCAG 2.1.1).
